Stevia Sprout!?
I have still been trying and trying to sprout my stevia. I only got 15 seeds in the mail and they are the small and fragile so it is really hard to sow just a few at a time. I threw a few in a pot a while go and I have yet to see sprouting for sure. Something is sprouting, which I am hopeful that it is stevia, but I am figuring that it is most likely a weed. So, feeling defeated I decided to try again inside so that I can have better control over the situation. I read online that stevia seeds can be quite tricky to sprout, so I guess it was kinda ambitious of me to think I could just sprout stevia without knowing what I was doing. Anyways, all the tips online just said that they need a very warm (about 75-80 degree soil) and light watering. I got out my jiffy seedling container and tried it out, covering it with the plastic lid for a few days. About a weed
has gone by and nothing has happened...until this morning. I woke up this morning to this tiny this sprout. I am still not completely convinced that it is actually a stevia sprout, but it looks promising. It doesn't have the same look as the sprouts in the other pot that I am almost positive are just weeds. Hopefully it stay alive long enough so that we can find out. Note to self, next year just buy the transplants when I see them in the store!
