New Discoveries

Eggplant
Blossom

First Tomato on
Early Girl

                                                            Discoveries....

Walking through my garden this morning I found a few very exciting discoveries. First, my Japanese eggplant (Ichiban) developed it's first blossom today. Isn't it beautiful?  Who needs regular flowers anyways. Next up, I found  a tomato forming on my Early Girl plant. Oh my goodness! How exciting is that?! I am glad that I decided to get an Early Girl because they are indeed early producers.

The tomato isn't the only food coming out of hiding though. I found some peas forming on my pea plant. This was the one that decided to come up on it's own, all my other peas are still little babies.

What's New?

I wanted to make a note about an addition I made to my garden this week. Basically, I added a natural trellis to my garden. I have been playing with some ideas for a trellis to vertically grow watermelon, but I haven't gotten around to it and kinda felt overwhelmed by the project. Nonetheless, I realized that my peas were really taking off and were pretty much grasping the air for something to hold on to, so I got the idea of using some of th branches that I cut down from pruning some bushes around the yard. I really like the natural look and I am curious to see if my pea plants like them as well :)

It is kinda hard to sea, but here is a photo of my new pea "trellis"....
